In celebration of Christine’s birthday/Christmas and Gloria’s birthday/Boxing Day, we’re giving away our new full length album the Longest Night as a free download for today and tomorrow only. Go get yours here!

Happy Winter Solstice!

Happy winter solstice everyone! We don’t usually pay attention to the longest night of the year because, you know, it’s all one long night for us in a land where the sun doesn’t rise for six weeks. But Christine is visiting her family in Myanmar and Gloria is with family in Ottawa, and we have been enjoying some lovely sunshine, and we look forward to more sunshine in the coming year.

To celebrate the winter solstice, why not listen to our very appropriately themed album?

Also, Allison Devereaux from CBC North put together this great playlist for winter darkness, just in time for the winter solstice, including music by yours truly. Make sure you have a listen!

Season’s Greetings!

A huge thank you to Justin from KOOP FM in Austin, Texas for playing our song The Longest Night for American listeners as part of his winter playlist on his This Great White North radio show. Bet you that Austin winters are pretty different from Nunavut winter!

In other great news, Silent Shout also listed our song “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” in its honourable mentions list of Top Songs of 2014.

The Nunatsiaq News asked for our Arctic char kimchi recipe and recently published it along with pictures from a great photoshoot we did with our band photographer Denise Lebleu. You can check out the photos and recipe here. Meanwhile, we’re going to spend the next little while enjoying the holidays with our families.

Canada’s Top 103

Big news! Our song The Longest Night was listed in the Top 103 Canadian Indie Songs of the Year by CBC Radio 3! Whoa. Whoa.

In other news, our interview on Northwest Territories’ CKLB FM Feel Real Radio station was aired last Thursday, where we got to chat with radio host Jacey about our new album and our strategies for making it through the long, dark, cold Arctic winter, a particularly apt topic since we just had our last sunrise and sunset for the year.  Good-bye sun until January 2015. You can check out the interview here and download the whole podcast here.

A big thanks to Tamara for playing our music on her show Modern Mixtape all the way in Iqaluit on CFRT FM. We’ve also been getting a lot of radio love from Oklahoma-based We Are The New Underground. These guys have been making a big push for emerging creative artists, so go check out their work and give them your support!

These days we’ve been busy making plans for shows next year and even doing another photoshoot with the wonderful Denise Lebleu.  Most importantly though, we’d getting ready for the holidays.  Here’s wishing all of our friends and fans happy holidays and safe travels!
