Food Bank Coffeehouse Fundraiser

Thanks to the generous spirit of Cambridge Bay residents, we’ve raised over $3000 for the local food bank at the food bank fundraiser this Saturday. It seems like the whole town got involved, volunteering to set up tables, bake yummy treats, and give money. Cambridge Bay, your generosity never ceases to amaze me.coffeehouse - crowd

The musical talent of Cambridge Bay also continues to amaze me as well. A huge thanks to all the musicians who performed with us! It was so great to have a chance to hear the diversity of musical talent that exists in this small town, which includes young pianists, a flamenco band, and amazing traditional Inuit throat singers.

Do you wanna build a snow man?

And thanks for supporting our music as well! Our favourite moment was when we did a cover of “Do You Want To Build A Snow Man”. The army of little girls standing at the front singing along was just too cute.

T-shirts for sale!

We’ve been getting so much radio love lately from all over the world! A big thanks to:

  • PK from the British-based Synthpop Show for playing our tune Summer North last week. You can catch the mixcloud stream here.
  • Sook-Yin Lee from CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera
  • Jeff Appleton from Ireland-based radio station RadioAktiv for playing our tune Slush Puppy on his radio show Shameless Promotion. If you didn’t get to hear it live, you can stream it here.
  • Ryan from Ottawa’s CKCU FM radio show Whatever’s Cool With Me for playing our song The Longest Night last week. We’d also like to congratulate CKCU FM on meeting their funding drive target goal. Long live community radio!

In other news, this Saturday November 22, we will be at the Cambridge Bay Christmas Bazaar, selling our fresh hand-rolled sushi rolls, our homemade small batch kimchi, and band merchandise in form of tee-shirts and granny panties, all silk-screened by hand here in Cambridge Bay.  Come get your fill!
