the morning after the party

What a party last night at Zaphod’s.  We had a great sound guy who had us blast our new tunes louder than ever, and a great crowd, even for a Wednesday night. It was a party of epic proportions.  Drinks spilled all over the stage. Engagement rings used as makeshift guitar picks.  Cops running past the stage to chase after a guy with a gun at the strip club next door.  A drummer mysteriously missing his clothes  (Not our drummer, thank goodness). We especially enjoyed the lovely ladies of the Delinquent Grubs who played before us, dazzling with their “banjolene”. Hopefully we’ll see them again soon!Image

hmm, we’re not sure what Scary Bear is up to either, why he’s trying to wear a hanbok, where he found that bottle of North Korean brandy, or why he’s gathering up all the Asian stereotypes he can find. Perhaps he’s got some sort of act prepared for tomorrow night’s show at Zaphod’s? We ARE planning to play our new single Asian Fetishist. We’ll just have to see how this goes…

house parties and Zaphod’s

great house party on Friday!  so glad I had a chance to be a part of it, and it was awesome to have such a supportive crowd to play to.  and the night didn’t end with a nail in my foot. who doesn’t love a good house show?

Don’t forget, we’ll be playing at Zaphod’s this Wednesday with the full band, including surprise guest musicians who’ll be joining us on keyboards and drums. We’ll be playing a bunch of new original songs you haven’t heard yet, plus there will be a lot of art for sale….and the whole show wraps up by 11PM, so really, you have no excuse to miss this. Doors open at 7PM – contact us for tickets (they’re cheaper from us as than at the door).

our new video, courtesy of Partus Films

On Sunday, May 20, we had the opportunity to participate in the second edition of the “4in1 Live in an Ottawa Park” music series run by Ming Wu. It was, as we mentioned, one of the most magical afternoons we’ve ever played.

Craig Allen Conoley of Partus Films made this fantastic film of our performance. Check it out and share!

Great news everyone!

We’ll be playing a cosy little house show this Friday night, hosted by the creative Ben Myers.  You’ve seen us at festivals, you’ve seen us at bars, you’ve seen us at art galleries, and you’ve seen us in the woods.  It’s time to check out our sound in the intimate setting of a house party. We’ll be featuring guest musicians, since Dannik is still in Hawaii.

the South March Highlands Celebration Day

Thanks to everyone who came out to watch us perform on Saturday in our favourite forest as part of the South March Highlands celebrations. We’re excited that the subject of our song “Beaver Pond Forest” has won the Great Public Spaces contest, and were glad to have a chance to participate in the festivities. We weren’t going to let anything stop us, not even a car accident! As we always say, ROCK OUT FIRST. ASSESS INJURIES LATER.
